Diabetes Prevention Program
Service Description
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a community-based lifestyle improvement initiative designed for adults with prediabetes. Its goal is to empower participants to make lasting lifestyle changes that enhance their overall health and significantly lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In trials and follow-up studies, participants achieved a modest weight loss of 5% to 7% and increased their physical activity through a 12-month lifestyle change program. The DPP utilizes the PreventT2 lifestyle change program, which is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This evidence-based program can help you implement small lifestyle changes and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes by more than 50%.
